About Kalasag Brotherhood
Kalasag — Tagalog for shield — symbolizes our enduring duty to protect, serve, and uplift communities, both in our host country, Canada, and our homeland, the Philippines. We are former uniformed service members of the AFP, PNP, BFP, PCG, BJMP, and other government services, now living in Winnipeg, Manitoba and across Canada.
Kalasag Brotherhood of Canada Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are volunteer-run — every dollar we raise goes directly back into our community programs and humanitarian missions.
Mission
We are a brotherhood of former Filipino uniformed service personnel who have migrated to Canada and continue our tradition of service. Our mission is to uphold public safety, promote cleanliness and civic pride, mentor youth, and support humanitarian, disaster-relief, and medical missions in the Philippines. We aim to strengthen Filipino-Canadian integration, cultivate solidarity, and build resilient communities in Winnipeg and beyond.
Vision
To be a globally respected volunteer force of Filipino-Canadian leaders who serve as a living bridge between Canada and the Philippines. We envision safe, clean, empowered communities in Manitoba and responsive, mission-ready teams that answer the call for humanitarian assistance whenever and wherever needed.
Our objectives
- Promote community safety, cleanliness, and environmental stewardship in Winnipeg and Manitoba.
- Build a support system for Filipino veterans and ex-uniformed members adjusting to life in Canada.
- Plan, train for, and deploy in humanitarian, medical, and disaster-relief missions in the Philippines.
- Mentor Filipino youth and encourage leadership, cultural pride, and civic engagement.
- Partner with Canadian and Philippine agencies to support emergency response and nation-building.
- Advocate for multiculturalism, civic responsibility, and community empowerment.
- Raise funds and resources for sustainable outreach projects.
- Act as a moral and civic role model for the next generation of Filipino-Canadians.
